MO RIVERS

INTRODUCTION

Mo Rivers made her name initially as a fashion and photographic model, and beauty queen after winning through to the finals of Miss England, Miss UK in the Miss Great Britain contests.

EARLY START

Although she trained in tap and ballet from the age of seven, and studied at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama, Mo's first love was singing.   It was on one special modelling assignment that she met Jeannie Hylton, an established singer, whom she later teamed up with and formed a song and dance act called "The Dee-Lights".   The girls also recorded two of their own songs "BMX" and "Jolly Hocky Sticks Rap" which became a favourite of local radio stations.

The Dee-Lights went from strength to strength and were soon booked by top agents and promoters to appear with such major stars as the legendary Matt Monro, Tommy Cooper, Joe Brown, Vince Hill, Gerry Marsden (of Gerry and The Pacemakers) and Val Doonican.

The girls did shows for the British and American forces overseas in Italy, Greece and Turkey.  Jeannie eventually left the act to get married, and was replaced by Maggie Moone.

The new "Dee-Lights" also proved very popular and the girls were soon contracted to sing for the Royal Fusiliers, followed by a contract in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).  Their lively song and dance act was in demand but after only six months Mo made the decision to live in South Africa, and so the act split up.

TELEVISION

In the late 1970's Mo did return to England and reverted to her singing and acting career.  Over the years she has appeared in many television soaps, including "The Bill", "Casualty",  "Coronation Street" and most recently "Eastenders" and "The Green Green Grass", transmitted over christmas 2005.  She has also appeared in such drama series as "Tenko".  and the comedy series "Only Fools & Horses" and "The Two Ronnies".

PANTOMIME, MUSICALS & TOURING THEATRE

Mo has played a variety of leading roles in numerous pantomimes for the past twelve years, and has toured as one of the leads in such popular musical productions as "Guys and Dolls", "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", "Annie"  "South Pacific", "The King and I",  "Showboat" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".     Here as "Lady Guinevere" in "Camelot".

CURRENT

Recent years have seen Mo busier than ever doing voice-overs, and appearing in commercials and corporate videos.  In 2006, Mo teamed up again with ex-singing partner Maggie Moone to record "As Time Goes By" ... a contemporary revival of 34 wartime favourites within 15 dance track compositions.
